Driving in from Van Nuys

Van Nuys has its own DMV office on Vanowen and a long row of car dealers along Van Nuys Boulevard, so plenty of title and registration paperwork starts here. To reach us, head east to the 170, take it south to the Burbank Boulevard exit, and go east past Lankershim; one block after Vineland Avenue, we are on your left. From the south end of town, drop down to Burbank Boulevard and ride it east the whole way. Just bought a used car? We do Change of Ownership and out of state tests, and you only pay if the car passes.

Yes, if it is a 2000 to 2026 gas or hybrid light duty vehicle up to 7 feet tall. We do not test diesels. Note that in California the seller is normally responsible for the smog certificate, in a private party sale as well as at a dealer, so ask the seller first. If you still need one, drive in to 10909 Burbank Blvd, no appointment.

The Van Nuys DMV field office is at 14920 Vanowen Street, Van Nuys, CA 91405. There are also DMV kiosks in the Ralphs stores at 7221 Woodman Ave and 17250 Saticoy St; give it about 48 hours after your smog check before printing a sticker at a kiosk.

Sometimes the car is honest and the monitors are lazy. If you get a Not Ready or fail, do the drive cycle and come back. A fail doesn't cost the test, so nobody has to treat it like a hostage video.
